Issues

Hello everybody, I know right now our city is facing several different political issues, and I would like your input as to what issue you'd like for me to discuss first. This blog is about you all, The topics you all wish to discuss and find interesting are those I wish to discuss. So everyone go ahead and comment and let me know what you find interesting for us to discuss!

  1. After the rezoning of the downtown nightlife district, a mysterious fire burned down the hotel economico. The arsonist was never discovered, but the insurance helped a now defunct business remodel.

Public comment not being televised is a great disservice to the community, composed primarily of working class citizens unable to attend. Why haven't we contacted the ACLU to take civil action?

Local school administrators are making teachers pay for books (or the book set if part of a set) if the child cannot pay for it. This new measure is now in each renewed teachers contract, bringing some educators to the conclusion that they can not afford the children take the books home. This is the greatest disservice in education I've heard of that punishes the students and educators.

    Thats about all right now.
    Good luck!

  2. I couldn't agree more my friend, those are 3 very key issues in the community. Honestly I had not heard about the first issue with that arsonist but it seems like it is obviously a scheme set to help that business re-establish itself. Second, I agree that public comment not being televised is despicable, but from my understanding mayor Martinez is the primary proponent of this, and I feel that organizing a group to appear at the next meeting to speak before the commission and make a statement in reference to the injustice they commit by not allowing citizens to see public comment at home if they weren't able to make the meeting. Third, BISD is one of my focale issues, I despise the way that it is run. It is run by people will their individual agendas. It's no longer about the children, and forcing the hardworking educators of this city to pay for the books of their students is just wrong. Yet, we have several ex superintendents on pay and a non-efficient administration with no experience in balancing a budget.

  3. Perhaps the best way to campaign on the public comment issue would be peaceful protest while passing out information about constitutional speech laws, how public funds can be spent and the responsibilities of a public servant.

Clearly taking a narrow point of view on this issue--Constitutionally, is flawed because technologically we are far more advanced and different in lifestyle than post colonial times. If you take the spirit of the law in question on public comment, the mayor should relent and suck it up.

Those choosing to commit slander or libel are personally responsible and can be sued. Why punish the community for fears of a bad thing to be said of a commission member, especially if they can prove it's not true? ...unless they can't...which is something entirely different but valid as well.

  4. The Limas Case is definitely something I'll be covering in the blog, and Troll-Y-Bus I agree with all of your arguments. We must strive to change the issue with public comment and it not being televised.

  7. In reference to Public Comment, Mayor Martinez, Sossi, Commish- Chavez and former Commish- Troiani, what do all these individuals have in common? All attorneys all sworn to uphold the CONSTITUTION of the United States. Could it be all of these people represent an extreme radical left along the lines of communism, socialism, & marxism? Do dems not see how radical their leadership has become?
Another dark road these people want to take us is UN AGENDA 21-COMPLETE STREETS (which is part of the master plan).
There is a web site I highly recommend-www.democratsagainstunagenda21.com
The stakes are very high to "Transform our American way of life" and the rabbit left is hard at work to take our freedoms as we speak.
I'm of the opinion that what's happening here is just the symptom of a much greater problem and throughout the country.
